Week 15

So this week we have done some testing. Certain voice overs were not clear enough for players. Luckily the sound designers already made different styles of voice overs. Therefore we had the luxury to choose between different styles and a more clearer voice over will accompany the Toy. Positive reactions were the result.

All functions of the Toy are implemented now. The only thing we can do is fine tune the Sound Toy.

It is funny to have a almost finished product in your hands. What began as an idea has evolved into a real product! Hopefully people will like the Toy as much as we do.

Week 14

We talked about the convention last week, where we could showcase our Toy. This went well. People liked the Toy and most of all the interaction part of it.
After that convention we, like most of the weeks, went further with programming of all of the functions. The sound designers delivered voice overs that will accompany the visuals in the achievement mode of the Toy. Some voice overs where not clear enough so we have to fine tune these.

The sound designers also kept on working on different sounds that have to be implemented in the Sound Toy. We now have 6 different sound styles, but not all of them possess 8 different sounds.

To promote the Sound Toy we made a Facebook and Twitter account. We also asked DPI to reserve a domain name so we can launch the site of the Toy. All of these accounts will be linked to each other.

Next week we want to test the Toy. So we can fine tune it and add or omit elements.

Week 13

One week off is always great, but now we are back in school again and in four weeks we have to deliver a 'Sound Toy'. The team went on with programming all the features the 'Toy' offers. We also had a meeting with Marinka from DPI. She came by to see what our status was. She also wanted to see if our 'Toy' was good enough to demonstrate at a conference that would take place in school on thursday. Marinka liked our design so far and she thought it was good enough to show at the conference that thursday.

The conference is also a good moment for testing. Hopefully we will receive some feedback from the visitors of that conference.

Keep you posted!

Week 12

Some tests have been done! Out of the tests we wanted to conclude if the basic movements combined with the mobile device are understood by the players. Our team also wants to see if the visual aspects, that will be showed on the mobile device, are interpreted correctly. Also the voice overs have to be clear. If both are not mentioning the same then players will get confused, something we want to prevent. So we had to test this in detail.

Just like the beginning of our production process we went on with programming the different movements that have to trigger a kind of sound.

Next week we are on vacation, but some team members will work a bit on 'Sound Toy'.

After the vacation we will return with a lot of energy!

Week 12

After a very long weekend (eastern), we are back in school. Our project-coordinator just visited us. He had some comments on our assignments. We didn’t think enough about the sounds that accompany the different icons. These icons are visualizing an assignment. There needs also to be a sound/voice over, that also mentions the assignment to the player. 20 assignments isn’t enough so we have to think about some more.

Thursday we have a deadline for all the different sound styles that will be in the ‘Toy’. We can test these on thursday then. Before hand we have to test the different assignments that will be given. A lot of work to do!

Week 11

It was a short week. We had three days to work on our ‘Sound Toy’. The designers had a intern-ship day which they had to attend on thursday. Fridays we are off, so in three days the team had to build a working prototype which we could show to our client.
At the end we heard that our client wasn’t able to visit us during the week, but we kept on working on our prototype. The result is quite nice. You can actually play with the sound of our ‘Toy’ and the device it is implemented on.

We also had to think about some assignments that are given during play. Last week we had a couple, but there needs to be more. Our design team made a list with a total of 20 assignments.

Hopefully next week we can show our prototype to our client so she can give some input.

Week 10

Aaahhh the flu. I hate it! Therefore I missed a lot this week, but the team worked hard and prepared our midterm presentation. On wednesday we had to pitch our process to another group and three teachers. At hand of the pitch and questions related to it, the teachers would give feedback and give a Go or No Go.
The four designers of our team nailed the pitch and we got green light. That means that the teachers see the possibilities of the ‘Sound Toy’ and our design behind it.

Next week we have a meeting with Marinka and then we have to present a working prototype with all the influences we want to be in it. So this week there has been worked on making this prototype and program the different movements of the phone what triggers a different sound. The team is also thinking about different triggers that have to be in the ‘Toy’. These triggers should give an extra dimension. It is also a requirement of the client.
